Lets face it. All of us at on time or another have had a problem with our closet being messy. I know I have! Bedroom closets can a play a big role in our lives. We use them to find out what to wear to work or on a date. But closets can also pose a big problem when they get messy. Here are a few tips on how to clean out your closet and how to keep it that way.
1. Sort: Take everything out of you closet and sort it into 4 piles: Keep, Donate, Throw Away, and New Home. New Home is a pile for things you want to keep, but that don't belong in your closet.
2. Purge: After sorting, you need to get rid of the donate and throw away items as fast as possible. Also, you should put the New Home items in their proper places.
3. Place: Take your Keep pile and place everything back into your closet. Remember to organize according to color and style. Also, if you have seasonal clothes in your closet you may want to consider buying a large under-the-bed container to put for instance, sweaters and coats, in the spring and summer months.
Keeping Your New Closet Clean
1. Every time you take off your clothes, put them into a hamper to be washed. Then, when you get them back after they have been cleaned, put them way ASAP. Don't just throw them in your closet. Hang them neatly.
2. Organize your clothes by style and color. First sort everything by style. Put all pants together, all dresses together, and shirts together, etc. Then within each group, sort them by color. For instance: in the shirt group put all red shirts together, then all orange shirts together, then yellow, and so on going in the order of the rainbow.
3. To keep your clothes smelling great all the time, pick out a great smelling tea bag and hang it in your closet. The aroma from the bag will extract and go into your clothes. Then whenever you put on a new outfit you will smell good, feel fresh, and look your best.
